Sight & Insight Slideshow

In this slide presentation, I welcome you to my home studio and share images and stories from my journey as an artist. I talk about photography as a spiritual practice, poetic seeing, and honing visual intuition. I also share my best advice for surviving (and thriving) as an artist.

My intention when I created this presentation was to help other artists deepen their relationship with their photography and experience a greater sense of creative freedom. I use my images to illustrate these deeper themes, so you’ll learn about my travels and personal practices and come away with new ideas to support your artistic journey.

You’ll get access to the slideshow as soon as you sign up, and you can watch it whenever you like (cozied up with an afghan and a glass of vino…or bright and early with your coffee). You’ll have lifetime access, so you can revisit it whenever you want. The slideshow is 1.5 hours long.

Join me for an intimate look inside my life and art!

* This slideshow was originally presented for Evenings with the Masters, a Nobechi Creative production. A shorter version was sponsored by Fujifilm and presented at PHOTOPLUS+.

Topics I’ll share with you...

  • The Zen and mindfulness concepts that inspire my work and help me stay centered

  • A practice that helps me tap into the present more deeply when I’m photographing

  • A look into what I’m thinking as I frame up my shots

  • My thoughts on crafting portfolios that are visually cohesive but nuanced enough that they’re not repetitive

  • Simplifying your gear so you feel less encumbered and more creative

  • Stories from my life that illustrate the challenges and rewards of being an artist

  • How to connect more deeply with your subjects, your environment, and your truest inner vision

  • Making quiet, peaceful, meditative images

  • Letting go of worries about the art world and what others think…so you can identify your own unique vision

  • How to keep your creative process flexible, free, and forward moving

  • Using light to guide your practice and subject choice

  • I’ll also share my images from North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Eastern Tibet, Vietnam, Italy, Guatemala, and China (all my favorite spots)

  • And, I’ll share images I made while living on the gorgeous north Oregon coast

A bit about me...

I’m Laura Valenti, the artist behind Light Atlas Creative. I’ve had my fingers in a lot of pots in the art world, for over 20 years now. I teach interactive e-courses, support emerging photographers in my creative mentoring program, speak to photo groups, and curate exhibitions for galleries and photo festivals around the world. I also jury photo competitions and serve as a reviewer at portfolio review events, where I help photographers fine-tune their vision and promote their work with confidence. I’m passionate about helping artists clear creative blocks and bring forward their most skillful, authentic, wholehearted work.
